Artist and Photographer
Since she simultaneously released three photographic books, Utatane, Hanako, and Hanabi in 2001, she has been acclaimed widely for her expressions that capture beautiful moments in ordinary scenes that are familiar to everybody.
In 2011, she released Illuminance from Aperture, a collection of 6×6 photographs that she has piled up over the years. Kawauchi has shown at many established institutions such as Museu de Arte Modema de São Paulo, The Photographers’ Gallery in London and Fondation Cartier in Paris. (photo: Nico Perez)
